As in all volunteer organizations, SWASFAA depends upon the participation of its members. There are many opportunities for you to serve SWASFAA. Volunteers are needed for the committees that do the work of the organization. A brief description of each committee is included on this form. Please indicate your preference with "1" being your first choice, "2" your second, and so on. Every effort will be made to place all volunteers on a committee.

  Annual Conference: Charged with designing a conference program that will meet the professional needs of the membership.

  Local Arrangements: Works closely with the Annual Conference Committee to ensure that adequate local arrangements are in place for the Conference.

  Membership: Charged with the recruitment and retention of SWASFAA membership in all five states, the management of membership records and the database, and providing service to the membership.

  Nominations and Elections: Solicits nominees for SWASFAA office, recommends a slate of candidates to the Board of Directors, conducts the election of officers, and encourages members to participate in the NASFAA election process.

  Training: Three committees are charged with carrying out professional advancement and training activities which contribute to the status, competency, and image of the membership.

  Boot Camp: Develops and conducts a basic training workshop for new financial aid administrators which is hosted prior to Annual Conference.

  Continuing Education: Develops and conducts an advanced training workshop for seasoned financial aid administrators.

  Decentralized Training: Each year SWASFAA participates in the NASFAA training workshops by providing trainers to conduct the workshops throughout the SWASFAA region. Trainers are trained by NASFAA staff in Washington, D.C.

  Long Range Planning: Makes recommendations to the Board regarding SWASFAA's long range goals.

  Federal Issues: Advises the Board and the membership of issues pertaining to the administration of Title IV programs.

  Publications Committee: Advises and assists SWASFAA's Newsletter Editor in establishing policies and in setting the tone, format, and scope of the SCAN, and solicits and reviews articles for publication.

  Site Selection: The committee identifies and recommends conference sites to the Board.

  Corporate Sponsorship: Acts as a liaison with those organizations providing financial support through advertising, conference exhibits, sponsorship of activities, etc.

  Awards: Develops award categories, solicits candidates for awards, and selects gifts/certificates to be presented to awardees.

  Electronic Initiatives: Recommends and monitors appropriate electronic communication within SWASFAA.
