GREETINGS FROM NEW MEXICO
By Joyce Eldridge, Eastern New Mexico University
NMASFAA President

New Mexico had one of the worst winters in years, but the snow is finally gone! However, Clovis, New Mexico was hit with tornados in late March, so our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues at Clovis Community College.

NMASFAA held their Spring Conference March 14-16, 2007. The theme was “Financial Aid: Land of Many Hats”, and from the pictures you can see we had a great time. Our keynote speaker was Christina Hall, the reigning Miss New Mexico, who I am proud to say is a graduate of the school I work for, Eastern New Mexico University. We had sessions on Gender Blender (working relationships between males and females); Negativity in the Workplace; What Do You Say? (how to deal with customers); and Excuse Me, Are You Sitting in My Chair? (dealing with change in the office). We also had a SWASFAA Update, and a Department of Education session on ACG and SMART Grants and Transfer Monitoring presented by Kevin Campbell.

NMASFAA is closely watching everything that is happening in the legislature and will respond as necessary. We look forward to a great year!
