OASFAA STATE PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Oklahoma College Goal Sunday was held February 11, 2007. We had 19 sites participating across the state. Although all the final figures are not in, it looks like we had a successful turnout. We had over 1500 in attendance, representing over 600 families.

Governor Brad Henry issued a proclamation proclaiming February 11-17, 2007 as “Financial Aid Awareness Week” in the state of Oklahoma.

Newly-elected officers for 2007-2008 are: (effective July 1, 2007)
  • President – Lynell Armstrong, Gordon Cooper Technology Center
  • President-Elect – Andrew Hammontree, Francis Tuttle Technology Center
  • Past President – Laura Coponiti, University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma
  • Secretary – Carol Stranfield, Tulsa Community College
  • Treasurer – Becky Garrett, University of Central Oklahoma
  • Treasurer-Elect – Janie Prior, Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center
  • Delegate at Large – Irala Magee, Northwestern Oklahoma State University
  • Delegate at Large – Mendy Schmerer,Univ. of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

The Spring OASFAA conference is scheduled for April 11-13, 2007 at the Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa. This year we get the great opportunity to celebrate Oklahoma’s Centennial. Our theme is “100 years of Pride and Progress, Oklahoma 1907-2007”. We will have a live history performance, a game night with casino games, bingo, and board games, and of course a lot of informative sessions.
