September 28-29, 2009
We had a board meeting on June 17, 2009, at Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City,
OK. At this meeting, I passed the gavel to Nancy Moats, whose term as president
"officially" began July 1. I announced the results of our recent election, which are
as follows:
President-Elect: David Barron, Rose State College
Secretary: Becky Garrett, University of Central Oklahoma
Treasurer-Elect: Teri Cochran, Northeastern State University
Delegate-at-Large: Dustin Davidson, Moore Norman Technology Center
Due to the resignation of our treasurer, we appointed Mendy Schmerer from the University of
Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to be our treasurer for 09-10.
President Nancy Moats appointed an ad hoc committee to address the new membership process.
This committee is comprised of the treasurer, treasurer-elect, and finance chair. They will
send out membership applications to all schools and will handle the membership process. The
treasurer-elect will serve as the membership chair. We discussed our membership fees, and we
decided to charge $100 per institution.
Due to some people's concerns about communication, we decided that the delegates-at-large
would solicit the membership for any items of discussion before each board meeting. The
president will send a recap of our board meetings to the association.
We had another board meeting on July 22, 2009, at Moore Norman Technology Center in Norman,
OK. At this meeting we discussed the new policies and procedures for the membership process.
Treasurer Mendy Schmerer created a letter and membership form that she sent to all the
institutions with information on how to become a member of OASFAA.
We also discussed creating a brochure for our association. President Nancy Moats felt this
brochure would be a beneficial way to advertise what our association is about to our constituents.
Over the past several weeks, we have had some discussion about how to handle decentralized
training with the new webinar format. We discussed having a couple of different training sites
for the webinars. Cost is a concern for many of us.
The next board meeting is scheduled for September 25, 2009, at Northeastern State University in
Broken Arrow, OK.
