PRESIDENT'S
REPORT
By Jacqueline Lachapelle, SWASFAA
President
Dear
SWASFAA Members,
I hope all of you are well and looking forward to the end of
the semester. I would first like to say how excited I am about
the upcoming year. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity you
have given me by allowing me to serve as your President. This
is truly an honor.
Your SWASFAA Board is hard at work planning for all the upcoming
events we will be offering during this next year. Some important
dates to remember are:
- NASFAA Board Meeting – April 20-23 in Charlotte, NC
- SWASFAA Board Meeting – April 30 - May 1 in Dallas,
TX
- NASFAA Best Practices Symposium – May 4-5 in Fort Worth,
TX
- SWASFAA/SASFAA Mid-Level Workshop – June 17-19 in Dallas,
TX
- NASFAA Conference and Board Meeting – July 6-11 in
Washington D.C.
- SWASFAA Board Meeting – September 24-25 in Dallas,
TX
- SWASFAA Board Meeting, Bootcamp, and Conference – December
10-14 in Austin, TX
I would like to thank the Board Members who have graciously agreed
to assist me and serve this association for the next year. We
have set many goals for the upcoming year in an effort to continue
improving our association and the services we offer to our membership.
The spirit of volunteerism has been great. Thanks to all of you
who have volunteered your time and talent. Also, please consider
volunteering for 2008. Your President-Elect, David Page, will
be in need of volunteers and we want to support him and make sure
that all states are well represented.
Last, but not least, it is time to renew your SWASFAA membership
if you have not already done so. If you are not a member of SWASFAA,
I would ask you to consider becoming one. Your regional association
is not about me or the board. It is about all of us who share
in this mission of providing students access to some form of post-secondary
education that otherwise would not be available to them. There
is power in numbers and the stronger we are as a region, the louder
our voice will be and the further it will carry.
Again, I thank all of you for this opportunity and look forward
to meeting as many of you as possible as I visit the great states
in the SWASFAA region. Take care and God bless.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Lachapelle
2007 SWASFAA President
